Dear Residents & Families,

We wanted to give you an update on how Petaluma Post-Acute Rehab is dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. We are happy to report that we have had no staff or residents test positive for COVID-19. The health of our staff and residents is our number one priority.

We are closely following all CDC and public health recommendation. We began restricting visitors in early March. Around the same time, we began screening all employees prior to entering the facility. We are also closely monitoring all of our residents so that we can act promptly if they develop any new signs and symptoms of COVID-19. We have designated isolation rooms, and we are well prepared with the proper PPE for our staff.

In addition to the CDC recommendations, we also invited the Sonoma County Public Health nurses to our facility to test our employees and residents to make sure they were not asymptomatic carriers. Over 40 tests were completed, and none came back positive for COVID-19. California Department of Public Health also completed an abbreviated infection control survey, and no concerns were noted.

These times have also forced us to adapt in our communication. We have several facility iPads available for our nursing staff, and we are following physicians to conduct telemedicine visits. We have also made iPads available to our residents so that they can communicate with their loved ones.

We are very grateful for the dedication of our staff and following physicians during this challenging time. We look forward to the day when we can once again open the doors to visitors in our facility.
